For the past few days, when I try to login to the iOS app or the web app, I am redirected to a “Sign in & Register” page that notes that one can use institutional credentials if their institution has a site license (which mine does not), yet, it will only accept institutional credentials: I am unable to login via my account credentials (i.e. The app is great-but as of late, I can’t use it. Secondly, continuously scanning makes my computer runs hot and battery drains fast in idle. Only papers scans my disk! Again my primary point is not how much resources “papers” takes but it alerts me this app compromises the privacy of my computer by scanning my computer and send out information. My windows defender is inactive all the time (scanning option is off) and my antivirus is ESET which shows no evidence of disk or even network consuming (attached for your reference). And “papers” is the only app running all the time (no PDF sync at all) in the background taking either CPU, disk or network every second. I even get problems to video chat with my mentor and send email with attachments. Let me make it clear: this raises my privacy concern and network has nothing to do with antivirus. This version sends out something all the time taking most of my upload bandwidth regardless in the background or not. Some previous versions consume CPU/GPU once they are in the background, which I can still tolerate. This is the ticket I submit after I complain a couple of times without any proper solution. my computer becomes hot and battery drains pretty fast. (It takes most of my 5 m upload speed/100m download speed) 3. when computer in idle, "readcube or papers" is the only app using CPU, DISK or network that makes me even unable to video chat. my windows security is inactive, and my antivirus ESET has zero disk or network use. I submit tickets to them a couple of times and was told it's because my windows security scan the PDF. You may want to check your computer as well. It scans my hard disk and sends out information every second. Warning: I have privacy concern for their desktop version. It's OK since I use desktop version mostly.
